Can yoga really make a difference to a company away day?

A few weeks ago I was invited to teach at the summer gathering of a small company whose team mainly work remotely. Their founder wanted everyone to step away from their screens, reconnect in person and simply enjoy spending time together.

My yoga session was the first activity of the day, and it couldn't have been a better way to begin. By the end of the class, everyone felt more relaxed, energised and physically ready for the day ahead.

Some people arrived feeling a little unsure because they'd never tried yoga before. That's something I see often, so I keep my classes light-hearted, welcoming and completely accessible. There is no pressure to be "good" at yoga - just an opportunity to move, breathe and enjoy taking time out together.

A successful team day isn't just about having fun. It's about helping people feel valued, reconnecting with colleagues and returning to work feeling refreshed and motivated. Yoga offers a simple but powerful way to support exactly that.

As I watched everyone chatting afterwards, it struck me that yoga had become much more than a stretching session. It had broken the ice, encouraged laughter and helped people relax into each other's company before the rest of the day's activities even began.

Experiences like this remind me that yoga doesn't belong only in studios. It can support people wherever they are, in the workplace, at home or outdoors in the fresh air. Sometimes all it takes is an hour to help people reconnect with themselves and with one another.

Over the years I've had the pleasure of delivering yoga and wellbeing sessions for organisations including Whitmore High School Harrow, Hackajob, Stella Menopause app, Norwood Green School, Telford Homes (Greenford Quay), Kandidly Performance Marketing Agency, with workplace wellbeing, team away days and online classes.

I offer yoga and self-care sessions for company away days, wellbeing events and regular workplace programmes, in person and online. If you'd like to find out more, I'd love to hear from you.

Helping people feel calmer, stronger and more connected on the mat, at home and at work.
